平安時代、貴族達は、自然の色そのものを映しとり、身につけると言う雅やかな色彩文化が発展しており、その中には、四季折々の草木や花々の他、自然の風物もモチーフになっていた。
この作品は、冬の銀世界を表現したもの。真っ白な雪景色の中、水面に張った氷に光が反射する様を銀糸の刺繍が象っている。

Koorigasane(氷重)
During the Heian period (794-1195), aristocratic men and women wore colorful clothes, colors arising from the exquisiteness of nature. The design motif of nature arising from seasonal plants and flowers created a rich colorful culture. This is a design that expresses an imaginary world of snow, embroidered with silver threads that represent flash of lights reflected from the surface of the frozen water.
